I have had several students ask me how other people wil be able to play the game they write in Scratch if the end users do not have Scratch installed on their computers...
Scratch cannot compile a program to make an executable file, but another program BYOB can.
You can download BYOB from http://byob.berkeley.edu/
BYOB (Build Your Own Blocks) is an advanced offshoot of Scratch and can open Scratch programs.
So to make an executable file that contains the sound, code and sprites of a Scratch program, open the Scratch program in BYOB and click Share, Compile this project and it will create the *.exe file for you!
Thank you to Edward Gentle for sharing this with us at the Study Opportunities Workshop on 21 July!
